Staircase Rug | Paprika
Quite possibly the best rug we’ve ever made. Custom-sized for a special display we made this year, we got non-stop compliments on this beauty. We love combination of soft Nantucket red stripes on cream, and the unexpected soft, stripey pattern that occurs via the shag weave. A Block Shop classic. Very very lightly used, we discounted the price by 20%.
- Fabric: 70% wool, 30% cotton
- Pile: High cut pile
- Note on pricing: this rug uses an advanced weaving process requiring the highest level of craftsmanship, which is reflected by the price (versus the simpler, traditional flat weave process).
- Handwoven by V-Weave, a Craftmark certified, ethical manufacturer of wool rugs
Block Shop is thrilled to partner with V-Weave, one of the oldest and most prestigious family-run weaving cooperatives in India, for our ongoing collections of wool and cotton-wool rugs. Craftmark certified, V-Weave is best known for their inventive use of traditional Indian natural materials –handspun Himalayan wool, Bengali jute, Gujarati cotton– in wildly textured pedal weaves, shags, and loop pile rugs.
Block Shop’s collaboration with V-Weave supports the livelihoods of 250 spinners, dyers, and weavers.
Vacuum at least once a month to keep your rug clean. Spot clean pet stains and spills with paper towels immediately. Apply baking soda on the area and allow it to soak up the liquid for a few minutes. Then, vacuum up the baking soda.
For tougher stains, apply a mixture of vinegar and baking soda as a paste, *or* regular dish soap, and then rinse with wet paper towels or a sponge. You may also hang your wool rug outside and power clean with a strong hose, letting it dry in bright sun.
