About

MADE TO ORDER: SHIPS IN 4-5 WEEKS.

The snail has become our Block Shop mascot. The idea for the snail came from one of my favorite books, the Taschen Book of Symbols, where the snail is described as a metaphor for resilience, slow and steady progress, and adaptation – all attributes we relate to as a small business. For these particular snails, I looked to the famous giant snail from the 1967 film Dr. Doolittle; a childhood favorite.

The Snail knob started as a clay sculpture by artist and designer Hopie Stockman Hill, and was then hand-cast in unlacquered brass at a local foundry in Los Angeles.

Each piece is 100% unique and may have irregularities or imperfections, which we think makes them even more special. Unlacquered brass will patina with time. You can keep them bright and shiny with an annual brass polish, but we love the way unlacquered brass ages.

  • Unlacquered Brass
  • 2.25” L x 1” H x .75” D
  • Hardware included

Care

Clean regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust or tarnish. An annual polish (using brass-specific polish) will keep them nice and bright.
