Tulip Field Square Scarf
About
For our adorable new square scarf, we took cues from 19th C. American appliqué quilts inspired by the German folk art of scissor cuts (“Scherenschnitte”), featuring intricate, symmetrical designs. Easy to knot, tie, and throw on daily.
Each piece is printed and dyed by hand in small batches, and celebrates the rich history, process, and materials of hand block printing.
- Hand block printed in Jaipur
- AZO-free non-toxic dyes
- 25% silk, 75% cotton
- 34 x 34 inches +/-
- Folded hem
Process
To make our block printed fabric, each design is traced onto a wooden slab, which then is carved by hammer and chisel into a printing block. The block is then printed meticulously by hand using soft, AZO-free, non toxic pigment.
Variation in printing & color are hallmarks of hand block printing and dyeing in small batches.
